‘Ennum Eppozhum’: Getting positive review

Manju Warrier, who has returned to acting with “How Old Are You”, has teamed up with Mohanlal for a movie after a gap of 17 years in “Ennum Eppozhum”, which has been released on Friday, 27 March.

“Ennum Eppozhum” is a melodrama with a lot of humour and revolves around journalist Vineeth (Mohanlal) and Deepa (Manju Warrier), a socially-committed family court lawyer.

Vineeth N Pillai works at Vanitha Rathnam as Senior Correspondent. Even though his work is not impressive due to his laziness, his job remains safe due to his mother’s influence. But when Kalyani (Reenu Mathews) joins as the new Editor-in-Chief, his job is in trouble.

The new editor hatches a plan and decides to fire him. So, she assigns him a job to interview Deepa (Manju Warrier), a socially-committed family court lawyer. The lawyer has been divorced and has 7-year-old daughter.

With the fear of losing the job, Vineeth tries to get closer with her. But their characters are poles apart. However, destiny brings them together and how they try to adjust and overcome the troubles forms the crux of the story.

The pattern of “Ennum Eppozhum” shares resemblances with “Gandhinagar 2nd Street” and “Sanmanasullavarkku Samadhanam”. The movie does not project Mohanlal in larger-than-life role, rather in a simple and realistic character.

The movie is directed by Sathyan Anthikad, who is known for making family-oriented films. His way of projecting middle-class lives with humour is one of the highlights of his films. Moreover, he is directing Mohanlal and Manju Warrier together for the first time, making “Ennum Eppozhum” more interesting for viewers.

“Ennum Eppozhum” has a strong supporting cast that features Innocent, Renji Panicker, Lena, Jacob Gregory and Santhosh Keezhattoor. The movie has Vidyasagar’s music, Neil D’Cunha’s cinematography and K Rajagopal’s editing.
